The Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Conversion (SFHC) Diploma course provides a route for suitably qualified, non-SF Hypnotherapists to convert their practice to the Solution Focused model. The course is run at the Clifton Practice in Bristol.
The SFHC course is based on the teachings of David Newton, Director and Senior Course Lecturer of CPHT, Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, DHP FAPHP MNCH MNCP SHS SQHP Sup Hyp. The course has been developed and is delivered by Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Training, a partnership established by former CPHT graduates Debbie Pearce and Sharon Dyke.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy has evolved from the core tenets of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), utilising key Solution Focused techniques to help people move forward positively in their lives, without the need to analyse problems of the past. Solution Focused Hypnotherapists encourage clients to identify what is currently working well, drawing on the client’s inner resources to achieve their preferred future. This powerful, positively oriented approach enables clients to develop their own solutions and identify tangible steps they can take towards a successful outcome.
The Solution Focused work is enhanced with the use of hypnosis incorporating relaxation and guided visualisation.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, like most Hypnotherapy modalities, can help with conditions that are caused by, or made worse by, anxiety including Panic Attacks, minor Skin Conditions and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). It can help with Confidence, Self Esteem and minor Phobias. It can also help (if necessary in conjunction with medication) in the treatment of Depression.
As a modern, well-researched approach, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy draws on the latest finding in neuroscience and brain-based therapies, utilising the brain’s plasticity to create more helpful patterns of behaviour.
It is attractive from a therapist’s perspective, since we are dealing with moving clients forward and encouraging problem-free talk. We do not analyse problems of the past. As a result, it’s not unusual for Solution Focused Hypnotherapists to report feeling more energised and uplifted at the end of the working day than they were at the beginning. A pretty good side-effect of helping people.
